Government Degree College Madyan, Swat

<p>The picturesque and majestic valley of Madyan is synonymous with natural elegance e.g. snow-capped mountains, lush green forests, crystal clear springs and emerald green water. Allah Almighty has been immensely gracious in bestowing natural beauty and splendour to this exotic valley. Despite these natural wonders, the valley intensely needed an institution which could cater for the latest educational needs and demands of the impoverished but competitive community of this valley. This dream of a quality educational institution came true in the form of Govt. Degree College Madyan when it was first sanctioned on November 2008 by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The college started functioning regularly in the supervision of Prof. Khurshid Ashari (the first principal of GDC Madyan) in July 2009 but due to the unavailability of college campus, form submission at the intermediate level was arranged in Govt. Higher Secondary School Madyan for which we are extremely thankful and indebted to the principal and his staff members. Later, Hotel Nishan Mahal (located on the bank of River Swat at Madyan) was rented as a temporary campus for the institution as the original campus was under construction at Jaray Piya Madyan. The nascent institution just started functioning smoothly when the devastating flood in July 2010 washed away the rented building with all the paraphernalia of the college which once again turned the future of the institution gloomy as the college campus at Jaray Piya in Madyan was then not constructed. Through the never ceasing efforts of Professor Mr. Arifullah (who is also the principal of the institution) and his colleagues Professor Dr. Mumtaz Hussain, Mr. Ali Yar Mian (Assistant) and Mr. Shafiullah, Lecturer Math, Hotel Zarin Palace was rented for the institution on emergency grounds to ensure the continuation of the institution. The institution continued functioning here when at last the construction of the campus at Jaray Piya Madyan was completed by the grace of Allah and the building was handed over to the principal by the respective authorities in August, 2013.The new campus has a hostel facility for the students as well as staff members of the college. Moreover, latest Scientific, Computer and Audio Visual Laboratories, a Library and playgrounds for co-curricular activities are also hallmarks of the new campus. A Hiace has been provided by the provincial Govt. for the staff and hopefully a mini bus for the conveyance of students will soon be provided by the related authorities.The new campus at Jaray Piya has provided ample opportunities to the students as well as the staff members to benefit from spacious building, commodious classrooms, healthy environment and sensational landscapes. We hope that our institution will prosper beyond the horizons here by the will and grace of Allah Almighty and the unwavering determination and sincerity of our staff members. Govt. Degree College Madyan is gradually marching towards glory and perfection. Although the journey is laborious and long but the day is not too far when this nascent institution will be ranked among the best educational institution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This achievement and glory will come true through the sincerity, devotion and integrity of its staff and students, and above all the guidance and mercy of Allah Almighty.</p>
